Community Dharma Leaders
CDL The Community Dharma
Leader program is sponsored by Spirit Rock Meditation Center in northern
California. It is the only
nationally recognized training program for lay Dharma Leaders in the
US. Candidates are nominated
to and mentored by SRMC teachers for the 2 ½ year program
Elizabeth Fryer, LMFT -- has been practicing
Buddhist meditation since 1973. She received formal training in the Zen and
Theravada schools of Buddhism while living in Asia for 10 years. After
returning to the US in 1983 she practiced vipassana with Jack Kornfield in
California until moving to St. Louis in 1995. She founded the SLIMG in 1996
and has taught mindfulness in traditional and secular formats. She graduated CDL in 2002.
Elizabeth, a psychotherapist in private practice, specializes in applying
the principles of mindfulness to depth psychotherapy.

Bridget Rolens – began practicing Insight Meditation
in 1997 and is vice president of the Board of Directors of Mid America
Dharma. She was a Franciscan
nun for 20 years where she practiced various forms of Christian
contemplative meditation. She
is currently participating in the CDL program at SRC. Bridget brings an experiential
understanding of 12-Step recovery to her practice. She is currently teaching
Mindfulness based stress reduction.

Peer Leaders
Jon
Yaffe has practiced Insight
Meditation since 1999. He has
served on the Board of Directors of Mid America Dharma since 2005 and has been
a co-leader of SLIMG since 2006.
He currently participates in Matt Flickstein’s training programs
“Teaching as a Form of Practice”.
